This Privacy Policy applies to InvestJournal's websites, applications, waitlist, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described below. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Information you provide. This includes your name, email address, username, authentication details, feedback, onboarding and waitlist survey answers, and communications.
- Investment journal content. This may include research notes, decisions, watchlists, portfolio-related entries, price targets, comments, images, and other content you choose to create or upload.
- Usage and technical information. We may receive device and browser type, IP address, timestamps, referring pages, pages viewed, product interactions, error logs, and similar diagnostic information.
- Information from service providers. Authentication, security, hosting, market-data, and analytics providers may return information needed to deliver their functions or protect the Service.
Please do not submit brokerage passwords, payment-card details, government identifiers, or other information that the Service does not request.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Create accounts, authenticate users, and secure accounts;
- Store, organize, display, and analyze content at your direction;
- Operate community features and display content you choose to make public;
- Respond to feedback, support requests, and administrative messages;
- Understand product use, troubleshoot errors, and develop new features;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
- Comply with law and enforce our agreements.
3. AI and Automated Processing
InvestJournal may use automated systems or AI providers to organize, categorize, summarize, or analyze content. When a feature uses such processing, relevant content may be sent to a provider acting on our behalf. AI output can be inaccurate and should be independently reviewed. Do not include information in an AI-enabled feature that you do not want processed for that feature.
4. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information:
- To vendors and service providers that support hosting, database storage, authentication, security, communications, analytics, market data, and AI features, subject to appropriate contractual or technical restrictions;
- At your direction or publicly when you publish content, interact in a public area, or otherwise ask us to share it;
- For legal and safety reasons when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or preserve the integrity of the Service; and
- In a business transaction involving a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar event, subject to applicable law.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Public Content
Content you designate as public may be viewed, copied, quoted, saved, shared, or indexed by others. Removing public content from InvestJournal may not remove copies already made by other people or services. Review content carefully before publishing it.
6. Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses cookies and similar storage needed for authentication, security, session continuity, saved drafts, preferences, and product functionality. Your browser may let you block or delete this data, but doing so can prevent parts of the Service from working. Security providers, such as CAPTCHA providers, may also use device and request information to identify automated or abusive activity.
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect or enforce rights. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, account status, operational needs, and legal requirements. Backup copies may remain for a limited period after deletion. We may retain deidentified or aggregated information that cannot reasonably identify you.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password, protect your credentials, and notify us through the Service if you suspect unauthorized account access.
9. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You may update certain profile information and change the visibility of eligible content through the Service. You may also request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your personal information through the in-product Feedback page. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where permitted or required by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to know about, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information; to limit or object to certain processing; to appeal a denied request; or to use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right provided by applicable law.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so that we can take appropriate steps. Users between 13 and the age of legal majority where they live should use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian when required by law.
11. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may contain third-party links, data, or integrations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. Review those policies before providing information to a third party.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update its date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice when required by law. Your continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to subsequent use.
13. Contact Us
For privacy questions or requests, use our contact form. Include enough detail for us to understand the request, but do not send passwords or other sensitive account credentials.
